TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program) is a talent search and educational program for female gymnasts (ages 7-10) and their coaches. In the short term, TOPs helps establish the strong foundation of strength needed to achieve gymnastics goals. The long-term benefits include teaching dedication, perseverance, responsibility, and the importance of a fit and healthy lifestyle.
During the months of May, June and July, gymnasts ages 7-10 are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level. These dates are set by a State TOP manager in conjunction with the National TOP Manager.
From there, athletes are invited to participate in the National TOPs testing that is conducted
in October. During that time, the gymnasts are evaluated on physical strength and basic gymnastics skills and routines. Athletes may then be invited to participate in the National TOPs Team Training camp which takes place in December of each year.
